What data does Tandem collect?

Tandem stores basic personal information (name, email, profile image, timezone) for login and team profiles. We do not record your calls or log all of your app sharing data to our servers (if we built these features in the future, they will require explicit opt-in). We store a history of past calls for troubleshooting errors and may display this within the app at a future time.

All group chat and direct message chat messages are securely stored in our server.

In addition, we collect basic telemetry about how our features are used and any errors users encounter for sole the purposes of making Tandem better.

All data will not be sold for any reason or shared with a third party without the user’s permission.

Tandem and Slack

Tandem and Slack make a great pair! To integrate your Slack workspace, open Tandem preferences and select Slack.

Here are four features you can leverage with our Slack integration:

Initiate a Tandem call from Slack

Type /Tandem to create a link that teammates can click on to launch a quick call

Auto-update your Slack status to match your Tandem status

Since teams do their sync communication in Tandem, it's often easier to update your status in Tandem and have that status pushed to Slack automatically.

Show your teammates when you're in a Tandem call

This can be a helpful way to communicate to your team that you're in the middle of a call, or possibly nudge them to come join you in Tandem.

Send a Slack direct message to a teammate from Tandem

If someone isn't active on Tandem, selecting this box sends them a message in Slack along with a button they can click to join a call.

Security

Tandem encrypts all communications between servers and clients (chat, data and voice / video) using technologies like SRTP, SSL, and WSS. All of our servers and critical services are secured using 2-factor authentication. Tandem has limited visibility into your apps (only window names, titles & urls) and does not transmit any app data other than what is shared with your team. You can choose whether or not to share work app data with your team in the "work app sharing" tab of Tandem Preferences.

We use WebRTC for our audio and video streams and HTTPS / WSS for our transport protocols, so the communication we transmit is always encrypted. Because we focus on real-time communication, we simply pass through the majority of the data used without storing it.

We take our users privacy very seriously. We will never eavesdrop on their conversations or record them without their knowledge. We will never store their work data other than information that they voluntarily share with us. We collect data about how our features are used and any errors users encounter for sole the purposes of making the services better and will not be sold for any reason or shared with a third party without the user’s permission.
